Upper bay adventures is owned and operated by Rick Ash. Rick is a life long fishermen and has over twenty years experience on both the Upper Chesapeake bay and Lake Oneida. He is an accomplished tournament angler and has won several tournaments on each of these bodies of water. Rick recently retired from his full time position to devote his full focus on fishing. Rick is a licensed Coast Guard Captain and is certified in first aid and CPR. Rick is a registered and license guide in both Maryland and New York. Upper Bay Adventures is insured by Charter Lakes Insurance.
You will be fishing from a fully equipped BASS CAT Bass boat powered by a Mercury OptiMax 225 h.p. motor. You may use our tackle or bring your own. Onboard you will be using some of the finest tackle the industry has to offer including Shimano, Daiwa and Abu Garcia Reels along with St. Croix, All-star, Falcon and Furnace Bay rods.
Both of these unique fisheries provide excellent action for the avid bass fisherman as well as the novice. The Chesapeake offers some of the finest largemouth fishing in our area. You will learn the seasonal patterns as well as the nuances of tidal water fishing. Upper Bay bass fishing starts early in April and can go through December with favorable weather. Largemouth in the 2 to 4 pound range are prevalent with fish up to 7 pounds being caught. Lake Oneida provides some of the finest smallmouth Bass fishing to be found. Fishing on the lake starts in mid-June and goes on to early November as the weather permits. The lake is loaded with 2 to 3 pound smallies who are willing to hit a wide array of baits. You will learn techniques to fish the lake's various shoals and grass beds. The lake also provides excellent fishing for largemouth, Walleye and Pike.
